Why your support matters
Every Australian deserves access to specialist eye care. Yet for many in regional NSW, distance and travel remain major barriers to treatment at Sydney Eye Hospital (SEH).
With the support of our community—including our generous sponsors and donors—we are beginning to change that. The Tele-Vision initiative is now taking its first step in NSW, starting in Wollongong through the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).
This program will use high-resolution imaging to securely connect Wollongong Hospital’s Emergency Department with Sydney Eye Hospital specialists in real time—supporting faster clinical advice and care closer to home, with oversight from a Trauma Fellow at SEH.
Alongside this, we are progressing a research partnership with UNSW focused on AI-assisted diagnosis and earlier detection. We look forward to sharing updates as this work evolves.
Tele-Vision will help:
- Connect regional emergency teams with Sydney Eye Hospital specialists in real time
- Support faster clinical decision-making
- Improve access to Sydney Eye Hospital specialist advice closer to home for patients.
If you would like to help us expand Tele-Vision by donating, visit the Tele-Vision donation page.
Thank you for seeing into the future, helping us deliver Tele-Vision, and together, putting accessibility into eye care.
